Peer Review Policy

The Jurnal Anestesi Obstetri Indonesia (JAOI) applies a rigorous peer review policy to maintain the scientific quality, integrity, and credibility of published research.

1. Peer Review Model

JAOI applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process. This approach is intended to support fair, objective, and independent evaluation of submitted manuscripts.

2. Reviewer Selection

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject of the manuscript. Reviewers are selected based on their scientific expertise and ability to provide an objective assessment.

3. Review Criteria

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on their originality, scientific significance, methodological quality, ethical compliance, clarity of presentation, relevance to the journal's focus and scope, and contribution to obstetric anesthesia and critical care.

4. Confidentiality

Reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts and all related materials as confidential documents. Manuscripts must not be shared with unauthorized individuals or used for personal advantage.

5. Objectivity and Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers are expected to provide impartial, evidence-based, and constructive comments. Any actual or potential conflict of interest that could affect their judgment must be disclosed to the editor. Reviewers who are unable to provide an independent assessment should decline the invitation.

6. Editorial Decisions

The editor makes the final decision to accept, request revisions, or reject a manuscript, taking into consideration the reviewers' recommendations, the scientific quality of the submission, and the journal's editorial policies. The editor is not bound to follow a reviewer's recommendation if other scientific or ethical considerations justify a different decision.

7. Publication Ethics

The peer review process is conducted in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies. Suspected plagiarism, research misconduct, ethical concerns, or breaches of confidentiality are handled in accordance with the journal's applicable policies and procedures.

8. Review Timeline

JAOI aims to complete the initial peer review within approximately two weeks, subject to reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the need for additional review or revision. The actual duration may vary.

9. Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers may recommend acceptance, minor or major revision, or rejection. These recommendations serve as advice to the editor and do not constitute a final publication decision.
